Why Are Women Deprived Of Pockets? Why Women pocket are too small

Women are not that hard to understand, give them pockets and they will be the happiest of all.

Ask any woman, every single one will say that they love pockets. I mean who won't right? Pockets are supposed to be these small spaces that can hold your phones, wallets and keys and keep them safe, just like your best friends. Pockets are functional, utilitarian and are great keepers of all things that you can carry, but pockets in women's clothing are very much non-existent. I will say it- Women's pockets suck! In the age of larger and larger phones, it is mind-boggling that the majority of women's pants still have minuscule or ornamental pockets.

The clothing company dupe us by selling us items with fake or tiny pockets which can fit only bits and pieces of paper. They make us feel grateful for tiny pockets which are only fingers deep and can't hold anything substantial. And don't even get me started about dresses and kurtas.

There are countless rants and articles online about the frustrations of the lack of pockets and utility in women's clothing. So much so that a research Pudding went ahead and measured the sizes of pockets in both men's and women's jeans pockets, and the results blew our minds away. On average, the pockets in women's jeans are 48% shorter and 6.5% narrower than men's pockets. How is it that in the era of artificial intelligence and smart homes, we still can't get a decent pocket in women's clothing!

It's annoying to see the lack of real estate that our jeans, trousers, shorts and dresses can afford. Even the most functional pieces of fabric that are advertised with cargo pockets and hidden compartments fail to provide the kind of pocket space that comes standard with men's clothing.

The history of women's non-functional pockets goes back to the 17th century. Historically, pockets have always been equated to freedom which women haven't had much of back in the day. Before the 17th century, everyone carried their belongings in bags including men, then came the 17th century when men got pockets but unfortunately, women had no such luck.
